Consulting in hempcrete and hemp block builds
Best practice consulting for alternative materials and construction assemblies for code-approved buildings.
Healthy accessible homes, high efficiency performance, and solid building science.
Enabling the use of natural materials in our built environment towards food and living security.
Are you looking to build with hempcrete or?
We can help.
From advanced proposals based on building science and energy studies to alternative material guides and equivalencies, our professional certification and experience in technical writing helps move forward the legitimate use of new construction technologies.
We have been designing and building alternative material designs for 7 years, with new designs coming in 2024 that include Tiny Homes on Wheels, modular homes, domes, and more!
In 2014 we advanced our scope to include the design and care of living on and with the natural systems around us. We have won multiple permaculture design awards.
...the future of building is earthen construction. Christina believes that we need to reshape the building industry and fulfill our obligation to future generations to be built-zero while maintaining safety and comfort.
Design Professionals for Natural Building (DPNB) is a group of Canadian engineers looking to help enable natural building by considering and enabling the use of local material options to fulfill the needs, and values of a community, with the overarching goal to promote a legacy of healthy communities through healthy soil and water systems.
We specialize in the design, energy efficiency, performance, and building science of alternative material assemblies like hempcrete, AAC, stabilized earth, 3d construction printing, and more.
What happens when you combine over 15 years experience in natural building, robotics, 3D printing/AM, and advanced modelling? Add in a permaculture design perspective, a love for accessible technology, and a giant heap of building science/enclosure design based around passive solar and solar thermal elements, then things really start to get interesting.
Current design focus is on building components, wall assemblies, root cellars, and cob ovens. Considerations for planetary construction designs and methodologies. Mycelium integration.
How is Goodvin Designs (GD) related to 3D Space Terraform (3DST)?
Goodvin Designs is the engineering application of alternative materials in building construction: research, prototyping, data collection, reporting. GD also consults professionally to enable local code approval of alternative material use in construction - like hempcrete - working with the structural engineers and architects to achieve best practice and performance.
3DST is the design and application arena centred around additive manufacturing and 3D printing in construction, but with a focus on local material use. 3DST is also focused on helping set up resilient and capable communities, opening housing and food security access, and leveraging 3D printing technologies to inspire local industry.
Current collaborations supporting new technology development in hempcrete and 3D printing.
